TRUMPF Scientific Lasers GmbH + Co. KG was founded in May 2012 as a joint venture between the TRUMPF group, the world leader in machine tools and industrial lasers and Professor Ferenc Krausz, executive director of the Max-Planck-Institute of Quantum Optics in Garching and head of its Laboratory for Attosecond Physics and professor of physics at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich.

TRUMPF Scientific Lasers focuses on high-power picosecond and femtosecond laser technology especially on optic parametric amplifiers and on high-energy picosecond lasers. Base technology is the mature TRUMPF thin-disk laser technology. The main task is to further investigate thin-disk laser technology via customized laser system developments for research institutes and Universities.

TRUMPF Scientific Lasers is the only company that has the expertise and technology to develop a 1 J pulse energy, 1 kHz repetition rate, 1 TW peak power laser system that is needed for carrying out the experiments within the framework of this proposal.
